An Interview with Life of Pingkan

Hello! My name is Pingkan and I have blog called lifeofpingkan.com. I am a lover of all things fashion, style and also love to review products and restaurants (all thrown into my blog for good measure!).

I started blogging around the end of July 2015 to venture out of my comfort zone after receiving that extra push from very close friends and family—have loved it ever since! I wanted to inspire as many people as possible and follow in the footsteps of those who inspired me in the past—I had the vision of not only writing meaningful blog posts, but also including killer outfit shots, amazing eats and outstanding scenery that will hopefully encourage and motivate people to share their own adventures and partake in mine.

One of my dearest and main inspirations is my friend Frances Cassandra's blog (http://www.francescassandra.com). I adored the way she wrote and expressed herself not only through her writing but through her fabulous photos and creativity.

A good lip balm is a must in the city! I would highly recommend the Kiehl’s lip balm #1 Mango flavour—not only does it smell amazing it also has an SPF and is super-moisturising. Also, a pair of sunglasses that you can count on throughout the spring and summer months are a necessity for any city-slickers to roam around in. I would recommend securing a couple of versatile pieces to go with the rest of your wardrobe, in various tints and styles.

I have always loved visiting Frankfurt; it has amazing architecture, from the traditional buildings in the old town centre to the incredible skyline and skyscrapers. It also has great food, an amazing vintage market on Sundays and an incredible shopping experience. The Myzeil is one of the most unique shopping centres I have been to—honestly a very Instagrammable place. I just really enjoy the vibe the whole city exudes.

Another winner is Amsterdam. I have been there so many times over the past couple of years and can't seem to get enough! Again I love the architecture and love the food; there’s a fair few Indonesian restaurants there and it makes me feel a unique sense of home. Flights and accommodation are usually pretty good for a last minute trip—so it’s a very convenient place to reach from all over the UK.

1. An oversized floppy hat is a must—not only will it never go out of style it protects you from the sun!
2. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colour, you can still rock a monochromatic outfit but try to infuse summer into your look and make it pop that little bit more, by adding a bright coloured bag or a pair of vivid shoes.
3. Lastly, you can never go wrong with a floral, floaty number in the summer, whether it be a floaty maxi dress to an off-the-shoulder shift dress, paired with some sliders and tinted sunglasses and you’re always good to go!

I have followed Aimee Song from Song of Style (http://www.songofstyle.com/) since I was at University and always loved her style and work ethic. Not only is she a talented interior designer and published author, she is also a style icon—that lady is my hero. I also really adore Micah Gianneli (http://micahgianneli.com/) the ultimate #GirlBoss—her Instagram videos give me so much life!

I normally gravitate to Chill Nation on YouTube when it comes to summer time but lately I’ve been really into Flume, Porter Robinson & Madeon especially with their song ‘Shelter’. I think my ultimate summer album this year has to be the new Calvin Harris album (FUNK WAV BOUNCES VOL. 1) - I am so excited for that to drop!
