An Interview with AllSole Manager Sara-Louise
My name is Sara-Louise and I’m the website manager here at
The Spring/Summer season is probably also my favourite time of the year, as I am a keen festival-goer and enjoy any opportunity to delve into my scarily large collection of festival shoes. This season’s Hunter wellies—my eighth pair—were bought back in February, so I’m all set to embrace this year’s festivals.
I pretty much navigate the summer by hopping from festival to festival, and every one I’ve been to holds special memories. From a musical perspective, my highlights would have to be experiencing Florence and the Machine or Stevie Wonder at Bestival (both in 2012—that was quite a line-up!) or Elton John the following year at the same festival, all of whom were pretty sensational. A quite surreal memory is having my hand kissed by Pharrell Williams on stage back in 2009. I ended up on stage when he was performing as the frontman of N*E*R*D and Pharrell gave my hand a little peck in between verses.

Glastonbury, without any hesitation. It is Britain’s most iconic festival and the biggest in the world, and I’ve wanted to go since I was a kid. So far I haven’t had any luck with tickets, but when the chance arises I will be certain to take it up. The only other festival I’ve been desperate to get to over the past few years is Coachella, but I’ve already starting making plans to get out to California for next year’s festival.
Undoubtedly the original Woodstock back in 1969, where it all began. From the line-up to the fashion to the political and cultural sentiment, Woodstock marked a moment of history not just for music festivals but for music as a whole.
That’s a tough one! In support I think I would have Florence & the Machine, Lauryn Hill and NSYNC in their late ‘90s prime. As for the headliners, it would have to be Michael Jackson, Chic & Beyoncé.
Hunter Wellies: It has become my pre-festival tradition to buy a new pair of Hunter wellies before each festival season, and this year’s pair was purchased back in February. British festivals are notoriously bipolar when it comes to weather, and Hunter’s wellies are perfect come rain or shine as well as being able to complement virtually any outfit. They’re also super easy to clean when you get home ready for your next festival.
Hi-Top Converse: Music is ingrained with the heritage of the Chuck Taylor and it offers a cool, iconic look during the festival season.
See by Chloé Sandals: Next year’s trip to Coachella has forced me to change my approach to festival footwear, having to prepare for a hotter climate for the first time. I’ve had my eye on the new See by Chloé collection which includes some of this season’s most wanted sandals that would be perfect for sun-drenched festivals.
- No amount of glitter is ever too much.
- A good hat is an essential for the first couple of days of any festival. I’m also enjoying the recent baker boy cap trend that will be big at this summer’s festivals.
- Not sure what to do with your hair? Opt for boho plaits.
My three muses would have to be Kate Bosworth, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexa Chung.
