The Top 5 SS21 Footwear Trends
Rejoice! UK Spring is almost here, and with it comes lighter nights and some fabulous new footwear trends. Despite the question mark that looms over us this year, we're feeling optimistic about the spring-summer ahead of us.
With many designers offering a new approach to dressing (that's no longer tethered to the forward march of fast fashion), the new season feels as though it's very much centred around positive dressing. During their SS21 collections, many designers placed comfort and durability at the centre, and with this came a surge of happy colour palettes and versatile dressing options.

#1 Easy To Wear Slippers & Sliders
After spending the year inside and only having to worry about pairing your slips and slides with your bobbled pyjama bottoms - you might think you'd have trouble with how to style them outdoors.
But, fear not, many designers showcased the stylish power of the slipper within their SS21 collections - meaning that we don't have to part with them just yet, phew!
If there's one thing that the SS21 collections had in common it was the new non-linear approach to dressing. Collections from the likes of Balenciaga, COACH and Molly Goddard all showcased the versatility of the slipper, and we lapped it up.
Here are some of our top picks for this spring...
#2 Feel Good Bright Colours
Go bold or go home! After this year, it's no shock that many designers embraced an optimistic point of view for their SS21 collections. A world of bold and bright colours flooded our screens in a multitude of styles, fabrics and textures - including footwear.
Just think of Molly Goddard's iconic pink ruffled dress paired with those emerald green platform
JUST the type of pick me up we needed after this year, we couldn't be happier to see an explosion of watermelons, aqua blues, fuschias and rainbow prints take their place on our feet this spring.

The return off the ugg boot
Whether you love them or hate them, there's no denying that the UGG boot is back with a vengeance, here's why we're loving the return of UGGs.
#3 Technical Sneakers
When it came to a colour palette for SS21 footwear there were two sides of the story. Whilst some played with daring hues, others stuck to a classic monochrome palette - like CELINE who showcased a selection of all-white and all-black sneakers on the runway.
For the months ahead, we're expecting to see a lottttt of high-performing sneakers take centre stage. We've already begun to see brands such as
Athletic performance footwear really took off last year (as our everyday uniform evolved to include plenty of activewear) and it shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.
Classic charm and minimalist versatility, you can't go wrong - investing in a good pair of sneakers is a MUST for this spring-summer.
Take AZ Factory for example; sprung from athleticism and servicing real life, the SS21 collection was inspired by runners and paired monochromatic high-performing kicks with everything from fuchsia ruffled skirts to skin-tight leggings.
#4 The Power of Flats
With our plans cancelled, our favourite stilettos and heeled boots faded into the background last year, along with the likes of our formal wear and denim jeans.
But, as the old saying goes, when one door closes another one opens - right? Yep, flat shoes have entered the chat.

We're seeing many of our favourite influencers swap out their chunky-soled boots and heels for a more sensible loafer or flat boot, and the SS21 collections were filled with eclectic flat options galore.
The continued reign of the clunky loafer continues to lead the way, followed by flat boots and stretchy ballet flats. Here's what we're into for spring...

#5 Sandal Love
Are you dreaming of the beach? Us too. Unsurprisingly, the theme of escapism was explored by many designers for SS21, who were perhaps fantasizing of sunnier days ahead. With UK spring on the horizon, sandals are set to dominate 2021 (an unsurprising trend that feels particularly more exciting than it has in previous years).
This year's SS21 footwear collections really took their sandal-game up a notch; think of Christian Dior's strappy Roman ones, Versace's platformed to the high heaven's ones, Altuzarra's deliciously strappy ones - and so, so many more.
Chunky sandals have already started to appear all over our IG feeds, with the likes of Erica Davies already sporting her Birkenstocks long before the spring months have officially kicked in.
Whether they'll be worn in England or by the pool, around your back garden or to lunch, we're here for the sandal love...
